VP, Accounting Policy

Accounting
For top-tier securities firm, a Vice President for accounting policy. This position is responsible for overseeing a variety of accounting policy projects in a fast-paced, fluid environment. Additionally, this individual will function as a help-line to both the front and back office. The individual will be an extremely smart, highly ethical and skilled accountant who has strong technical skills and is highly responsive to requests and should be capable of advancing beyond this position to a role of greater responsibilities.Implement new acconting standards, in particular FASB 133, covering derivatives, FAS 140, re securitizations, and FIN 46, re variable interest entities. Track new policy proposals to determine necessary responses and draft response letters.Document standards internally in a user-friendly format Evaluate new acquisitions, structured trades, derivatives as well as other transactions to determine appropriate accounting procedures Respond to ad hoc inquiries regarding accounting requirements for client and company transactions. Approximately ten years of accounting/financial reporting experience, securities accounting is strongly preferred, including experience in accounting for complex financial transactions, such as derivatives. Undergraduate degree with strong academic credentials and a CPA.
